Rosters, night duty and payroll for hospital staff
A hospital never closes. Nurses rotate shifts, housekeeping often comes through a contractor, and visiting doctors are on their own terms. AiroHR plans the roster, pays night and weekly-off work by your rules, and keeps every unit on one payroll.
Made for a place that runs all night
Shift patterns change every week. The roster, the attendance and the payroll stay in step.
Rotating rosters
Plan each person's shifts on a weekly grid or upload them from Excel. A rostered weekly off overrides the usual pattern for that date.
Night duty that pairs correctly
A punch-out after midnight closes the duty that began the evening before, so a night duty stays one attendance day.
Touch-free attendance
An Android tablet running Airo Lens recognises staff by face, so nobody touches a shared scanner.
Weekly-off and holiday work
Choose how this is paid: comp-off, overtime hours, 1x, 2x, 3x or your own rate per hour.
Overtime you approve
Overtime is worked out from punches and waits for approval, and approved hours go to payroll.
Contract staff
Housekeeping, security and other contract staff are processed firm by firm, with a statutory annexure for each firm.
Paid by the hour
Visiting staff can be paid for the hours they punch, with the hours and rate shown on the payslip.
Several units
Each unit is a branch. Head office runs one payroll, and an HR user can be limited to one unit.
Statutory compliance
PF, ESI, PT and TDS run with payroll, with the EPFO ECR file and bank files.
One week on the wards
Plan the roster
Set shifts and weekly offs for each person, on screen or from Excel.
Staff punch
At the face kiosk or on the app, whatever the hour.
Managers review
Overtime, leave and punches that need a look are approved in one place.
Payroll follows
Duties, overtime and comp-off reach the pay run with no retyping.
Clear rules for a busy place
- A rostered shift decides the day, so nobody is marked late against the wrong shift.
- A selfie punch away from the site goes for approval and is not simply accepted.
- Leave can go through more than one approver, each with an HR login.
- An HR user can be limited to one unit or department. See Security.
Also in the same system
- Joining documents and KYC, collected before day one.
- Staff documents on each person's record, kept private.
- Exit and full and final settlement.
- Attendance heatmap by department.
Questions from hospitals
Can staff work two shifts in one day?
Yes. Two shifts are kept as separate sessions and their hours are added together, so the second shift is not lost.
Do you alert us when a nursing or medical registration expires?
Not yet. Expiry alerts cover passports and driving licences. You can keep registration details as a custom field or a document on each person's record, but there is no alert for them.
Can it work out doctors' fee sharing?
No. AiroHR does not read consultations or billing. If you pay a variable amount, enter it as an Additional Payment and it goes through payroll.
Does it connect to our hospital management system?
There is no ready-made connection. An API is available on request for sending data between systems.
Do all staff need a smartphone?
No. Staff can use a shared face kiosk, and fingerprint or card machines work through log import.
This page describes AiroHR as of October 2026. Steps done by staff need the employee portal or app on their plan.
